Each year the Daytona Playhouse raises funds to support area high school students and award scholarships based on academic standing and achievement in the area of Drama.

Open to all Volusia and Flagler County High Schools, we are certain to find the most deserving young people.

Apply For A Scholarship

Each year Daytona Playhouse awards the Jed and Ernie Dyer scholarship to a graduating High School Senior entering college in the Fall. Primary consideration is given to students that have been involved with our Playhouse as a volunteer on stage, as crew, or front of house. Other activity in the arts are considered.

Criteria for application

  • Applicants must be graduating from a Volusia or Flagler county public or private high school.
  • Applicants must have already been accepted to a college or university.
  • Applicants must have a record of volunteer service to the Daytona Playhouse. This could be in any area of theater operation or production. Included would be performing on stage, working on a stage crew or in a technical capacity for a production, serving as a volunteer in the box office or concessions, working as an usher, serving on a Playhouse committee or other voluntary roles.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application.
  • Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from either a Performing Arts teacher or a school official (Guidance Counselor) indicating why the applicant is worthy of this scholarship.
  • Applicants must submit an essay of 250 – 300 words on β€œThe Value of Theatre in a Community.”
  • Applicants must submit a recent photograph (head shot) that would be suitable for publicity usage.
