Senator Cromwell, an old line politician who keeps his women under stern rule, has a new daughter-in-law. When he learns Matthew's bride is a feminist leader campaigning for the Women's Rights Bill due to come up in the same election Matthew is running in for re-election to Congress, there is an explosion which shakes the family and threatens Matthew's marriage.
Written by Florence Ryerson and Colin Clements. Premiered on Broadway at the Morosco Theatre on January 14, 1948.
First production at the Princess Theatre following the fire at Welch Auditorium. The venue was updated with new paint, draperies and furnishings from The Casements (former winter home of the late John D. Rockefeller) which were donated by Miss Maud Van Woy (headmistress of The Fairmont-Casements
School and Junior College housed there), and a larger stage along with improved backstage accomodations.
