Description

Jimmy, a struggling actor, robbed twice, fired from a play, has a dying cat and an unhappy girlfriend, now finds a burglar hiding in his loft. What do you do? Tie him up and keep him prisoner? Yup!

Historical Notes

Written by James Kirkwood, Jr. Premiered on Broadway in April 1975 at the John Golden Theatre where it ran for 16 performances. After re-writes and successful runs in San Francisco in 1975 and Los Angeles in 1976, the play opened off-Broadway in February 1978 at the Promenade before moving to the Circle in the Square where it ran until December of that same year.


Sal Mineo (Rebel Without a Cause, Giant) took on the role of Vito in San Francisco in November of 1975. The play was in rehearsals in Los Angeles when he was murdered in February of 1976. He was replaced by Jeff Druce who had played Vito during the initial San Francisco run.
James Kirkwood co-wrote the book for A Chorus Line.
Also produced by the Playhouse in Season 59 (2005-2006).
